Run the City. Capture the Grid.
RNERS turns every run into a real-time turf war — your legs are your weapon, the streets are your battlefield.
How RNERS Works
No gym required. No special kit. Just you, the streets, and the Grid.
Open the app and your GPS instantly maps you onto the global hex grid. Every tile around you lights up — your territory is waiting to be claimed.
Move through a tile and it's yours. Cover more ground, own more city. Your Apple Watch tracks every step in real time — no phone needed while you're racing.
Tiles fade if you don't run them. Rivals will move in. Come back stronger, reclaim your turf, and make sure nobody touches your corner of the map.
Rack up points, unlock achievements, and climb the global leaderboard. Become the number-one runner in your city — then defend that crown every single day.
Pick Your Battle
Whether you're a daily jogger or a competitive athlete, RNERS has a mode built for you.
The core RNERS experience. Run through hex tiles to capture them, then keep coming back to stop rivals from stealing your ground. The city never sleeps, and neither does the competition.
- Capture tiles by physically running through them
- Tiles decay daily — stay active or lose territory
- Rival runners can contest and flip your tiles
- 25-point cap per tile keeps every run counting
- Live global leaderboard updated in real time
A flag drops somewhere in the real world. Your job is simple: get there before time runs out. Each mission is a personal race across actual streets — your pace, your route, your call.
- Flag pinned to a real GPS location near you
- Beat the clock — every second counts
- Tracks your pace and distance via HealthKit
- Choose your own route — strategy matters
- Harder tiers unlock as your fitness improves
Your toughest rival is your past self. Ghost mode replays your previous best run as a phantom on the map — match it, or beat it. Every run is a race against your own record.
- Pick any past run and race against its ghost
- See real-time delta as you gain or lose ground
- Beat the ghost to earn bonus achievements
- Perfect for tracking personal improvement
- Captures territory while you race
One runner is the hunter. One is the prey. A live, GPS-powered game of cat and mouse across your city. Proximity alerts get louder as the gap closes. Can you escape — or will you catch them?
- Real-time 1v1 pursuit across live streets
- Proximity radar pings as you get closer
- Switch roles each round for fairness
- Earn Hunter/ed-specific achievements and ranks
Your neighbourhood is full of hidden gems — you just haven't found them yet. Explorer mode challenges you to uncover POIs, landmarks, and secret spots by running past them.
- Discover real-world points of interest
- Build a personal map of explored places
- Unlock badges for new areas and regions
- The more you explore, the more you earn
The Hex Grid
RNERS divides the entire planet into hexagonal tiles using the H3 spatial indexing system. Each tile is roughly 110 metres across — about the size of a city block — making every street and park a potential conquest.
Run through a tile and it lights up in your colour. Run it again and you'll stack more influence. But stay away too long, and your tiles decay — leaving the door open for rivals to flip your turf.

FAQ
RNERS is a GPS-powered running game for iPhone and Apple Watch. The real world is your game board — run through hex tiles to capture them, compete with nearby runners, and climb the global leaderboard. Think Pokémon Go, but for runners. Run. Capture. Dominate.
Yes. RNERS is free to download and play. All core game modes — Domination, CTF, and Ghost — are available without any subscription or in-app purchase. We believe the grid should be open to everyone.
No — you can play entirely from your iPhone. But the Apple Watch adds a next-level experience: start runs from your wrist, see live hex tiles on the watch face, and leave your phone at home. RNERS supports Watch Series 6 and later.
RNERS uses lazy decay — scores aren't reduced on a fixed schedule but are recalculated when a tile is next visited. All influence decays daily: challengers lose 12% per day and tile owners lose 15% per day, which prevents permanent entrenchment. A maxed-out tile (25 points) drops to roughly 10 points after a week if nobody re-runs it. This keeps the map alive and rewards consistent runners — if you don't come back, your territory is up for grabs.
Absolutely. RNERS uses Apple HealthKit for workout data (distance, calories, heart rate), and all health data stays on your device. We never upload, sell, or share your health information. Your run routes are processed server-side for tile calculations, but never shared with third parties.
We're focused on making the iOS and watchOS experience world-class first. Android is on the roadmap, but we don't have a timeline yet. Join the waitlist and we'll keep you updated.
No. RNERS is built for users of all abilities, including people of determination. Walking, jogging, wheeling — any movement through a tile captures it. There's no minimum pace requirement. Every step, roll, or stride counts towards your territory. Any age. Any pace. Capture your town.

Your username, score, and captured tile map are visible to other players on leaderboards — this is part of the game. Your exact location is never shown. We use third-party services for hosting (Render) and database (MongoDB Atlas) strictly to deliver the service.
