RNERS
Strap on your trainers and take over the city, one hexagon at a time. RNERS turns every run into a real-time turf war — your legs are your weapon, the streets are your battlefield.
How RNERS Works
No gym required. No special kit. Just you, the streets, and the Grid.
Open the app and your GPS instantly maps you onto the global hex grid. Every tile around you lights up — your territory is waiting to be claimed.
Move through a tile and it's yours. Cover more ground, own more city. Your Apple Watch tracks every step in real time — no phone needed while you're racing.
Tiles fade if you don't run them. Rivals will move in. Come back stronger, reclaim your turf, and make sure nobody touches your corner of the map.
Rack up points, unlock achievements, and climb the global leaderboard. Become the number-one runner in your city — then defend that crown every single day.
Pick Your Battle
Whether you're a daily jogger or a competitive athlete, RNERS has a mode built for you.
The core RNERS experience. Run through hex tiles to capture them, then keep coming back to stop rivals from stealing your ground. The city never sleeps, and neither does the competition.
- Capture tiles by physically running through them
- Tiles decay daily — stay active or lose territory
- Rival runners can contest and flip your tiles
- 25-point cap per tile keeps every run counting
- Live global leaderboard updated in real time
A flag drops somewhere in the real world. Your job is simple: get there before time runs out. Each mission is a personal race across actual streets — your pace, your route, your race.
- Flag pinned to a real GPS location near you
- Beat the clock — every second counts
- Tracks your pace and distance via HealthKit
- Run it with just your Apple Watch — phone stays home
- Harder tiers unlock as your fitness improves
Your neighbourhood is full of hidden gems — you just haven't found them yet. Explorer Mode sends you to real-world points of interest and rewards you for discovering them on foot.
- Real POIs powered by OpenStreetMap data
- Earn XP for every discovery and collection streak
- Ghost Mode — race your own past performance
- Seasonal collections and route challenges
- Share discoveries with your running crew
One runner hunts. One runner runs for their life. A real-world cat-and-mouse game played across your actual streets — pure GPS, pure pressure, nowhere to hide.
- Choose your role — Hunter or Evader — before the match starts
- Evader wins by surviving the time limit or escaping the zone
- Hunter wins by closing within catch distance before time runs out
- Apple Watch pulses faster as the Hunter draws near
- Match history, win/loss record, and fastest catches tracked per runner
The Hex Grid
Engine
RNERS uses Uber's H3 hexagonal mapping system at resolution 9. Every hex tile covers roughly the size of a city block — about 0.1 km² of real terrain — and the grid tiles the entire planet without a single gap.
When you run through a tile it's captured instantly. No cheating the system, no approximations — if your GPS crosses the boundary, that tile is yours.
Everything a Runner Needs
Leave your phone at home. The full RNERS experience runs right on your wrist — capture tiles, check your stats, and feel haptic feedback for every conquest.
Every run automatically counts toward your fitness goals. Distance, pace, calories and workout data sync seamlessly — RNERS makes your health tracker actually exciting.
First tile. 100th kilometre. City Dominator. Dozens of milestones to unlock across five tiers from Bronze to Legendary — every runner has a badge to chase.
See where you stand globally, right now. Daily, weekly and all-time boards track tiles, distance and achievement points so there's always something to chase.
Tap Sign in with Apple and you're in the game in seconds. No long forms, no friction — just your Apple ID and you're on the Grid.
After every run, get a full breakdown: tiles captured, territory gained, score earned, and your exact route replayed on the live hex map.

1. Who We Are
RNERS is owned and operated by Pietro Nicholls ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use RNERS.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect only what's needed to run the game and keep your account secure:
- Account data: username, email address (if using email sign-in), and authentication tokens (e.g. Apple Sign In).
- Gameplay data: tiles captured, scores, achievements, and leaderboard stats.
- Session summaries: run time, distance, and derived stats.
- Location data (when you're running): your GPS position is converted to H3 tile IDs in real time. We store tile IDs — not your raw GPS route or coordinates.
- Technical data: app version, device/OS info, and crash logs to improve stability.
✓ We do NOT store your raw GPS route or exact location history.
✓ We do NOT store raw HealthKit data on our servers.
✓ We do NOT sell your data. Ever.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Run your account, authentication, and account security
- Enable tile capture, map updates, scoring and leaderboards
- Detect and prevent abuse (e.g. GPS spoofing)
- Maintain and improve app performance
4. HealthKit
Where HealthKit is enabled, we access only workout type, start/end time, distance, and duration. This data stays on your device — we don't upload raw HealthKit datasets to our servers. You control all HealthKit permissions through iOS Settings.
5. Who Can See Your Data
Your username, score, and captured tile map are visible to other players on leaderboards — this is part of the game. Your exact location is never shown. We use third-party services for hosting (Render) and database (MongoDB Atlas) strictly to deliver the service.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data. Most of this you can do directly in the app (Settings → Account). For data export or other requests, email Pietro@rners.net.
- GDPR users (EU/UK): access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent
- CCPA users (California): right to know, delete, opt-out of sale (we don't sell), non-discrimination
- All users: delete your account any time via Settings → Delete Account
7. Data Retention
Your data is retained while your account is active. On deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate statistics may be retained for analytics.
8. Children
RNERS is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email Pietro@rners.net and we'll remove it promptly.
9. International Transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country of residence. We apply appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable data protection law.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the app and by updating the effective date. Continued use of RNERS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
